Doosan Babcock has been awarded a FEED (Front End Engineering Design) study by Ameren Energy Resources. The Atlanta team will lead the execution of this project, which will include testing of boiler outlet conditions and review of proposed design. The pressure drop across the SCR will also be determined, enabling the team to finalise parameters for long lead ID fans in conjunction with an FGD system being developed by others.
Doosan Babcock was selected as the preferred vendor against competition from all boiler OEMs and other SCR suppliers in the US. The award comes after a year of due diligence by Ameren on Doosan Babcock’s technology and operational delivery capabilities at offices in Atlanta, Crawley and Renfrew.
The study is expected to lead to an SCR project, planned by Ameren, for two 680MWe coal-fired boilers at their Newton Power Station in Illinois. This order is significant in terms of growing Doosan Babcock’s Americas business.
